Saqlain Choudry was born and bred in Brent. A community volunteer and active campaigner, he supported local vaccination centres during the pandemic and worked with food banks and mutual aid projects to help residents who were struggling. He has also worked alongside the Safer Neighbourhood Team to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime.
Since being elected, Saqlain has continued to be a visible and active leader in the community. He works with residents, community groups and local stakeholders to build a safer, cleaner and greener Brent, with priorities including more council housing, stronger community infrastructure, tackling food injustice and health inequalities, supporting small businesses, and being a strong advocate for local residents.
His principles are straightforward: support residents, oppose austerity, and be a voice for everyone in the community.
As a councillor, Saqlain serves as Chair of Brent Connects – Willesden. He is also a member of the Audit and Standards Advisory Committee and the Audit and Standards Committee, and sits on the Brent Pension Fund Sub-Committee. He supports youth and community organisations through his involvement with Brent Youth Parliament, the Brent District Scout Council and Willesden Consolidated Charities.
