Sonia Shah

Sonia has lived in Wembley Central all her life. She knows the area’s strengths and challenges, and understands what it takes to get things done locally. Before becoming a councillor, she served for five years on the committee of her local residents’ association, working with neighbours on day-to-day issues and seeing first-hand the impact of strong community action.

Elected in January 2020, just weeks before the Covid pandemic, Sonia helped mobilise local support by setting up a Mutual Aid group. From organising food deliveries to checking in on vulnerable residents, the group brought people together and strengthened a sense of connection and belonging at a difficult time. Since then, she has continued to work with residents, local businesses, schools, faith groups and community organisations to tackle everyday concerns, including cleaner and safer streets, better maintained green spaces, and supporting town centres that thrive at the heart of the community.

Alongside her council role, Sonia works as a Leadership Development Manager and is completing a Professional Doctorate in Occupational Psychology, strengthening her expertise in how organisations support people and deliver effective services. Guided by ambition, integrity and humility, she is committed to securing the services residents need and ensuring Wembley Central is a place everyone can be proud to call home.
