Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Robert arrived in the UK as part of the Windrush generation in 1961. He holds qualifications from the Chartered Governance Institute, CIH (Housing), and CMI (Management), specialising in local government, regeneration, and housing management. He has worked in Central Government and 3 local authorities.
Robert has been a lifelong Labour supporter and a Party member since 2014, and is an active campaigner in Brent. He currently chairs the Brent Pensions Fund Sub Committee, sits on multiple council committees-including Planning, SACRE, and the Constitutional Working Group and Brent Pensioners Forum. Robert is highly involved and active in the Barnhill Ward as he is vice chair of governors at Chalkhill Primary School and serves on both the Chalkhill Community Centre and Chalkhill Community Trust Boards. He also attends the regular Barnhill Ward Panel.
From a Faith perspective, Robert is the Council’s Cabinet Champion for Faith, a member of Willesden New Testament Church of God, a co-chair of Faith’s Forum for London. Robert has just joined Brent’s Multi Faith Forum.
Robert has served as a non-executive director for various organisations, such as The Glasshouse Trust, South Kilburn Trust, Catalyst Housing Association, Advice for Renters and more. He brings extensive experience in community work, public sector housing, housing regeneration, and governance to local authorities, the Faith sectors and the voluntary sector.
