Matt Kelcher

Matt has represented the diverse community of Harlesden and Kensal Green since 2014. Throughout that time, he has focused on delivering practical improvements for residents, with a strong record across three core priorities.

Tackling anti-social behaviour
Matt has worked closely with the local police team to target resources where they are most needed. He has also ensured the council supports enforcement action by helping to gather and coordinate the evidence required to pursue closure orders against premises associated with persistent anti-social behaviour.

Improving air quality
Matt has consistently campaigned to reduce pollution in local hotspots. This work helped deliver Brent’s first School Street outside Harlesden Primary School, followed by a further School Street on Crownhill Road protecting pupils at three primary schools. He has also promoted action on engine idling and backed the installation of more electric vehicle charging points to support the transition to cleaner transport.

Improving public spaces
With many residents living in dense or overcrowded housing, Matt believes high-quality public spaces and parks are essential. He worked with the council to secure funding for a revamped, inclusive play space in Roundwood Park and supported a local community group to apply for Government funding to deliver significant improvements at Bramshill Open Space.

Matt also serves as Brent’s Chair of Planning. He is proud that, during his tenure, Brent has been one of only two London boroughs to not only meet but exceed its housing targets, delivering on Brent Labour’s manifesto commitments and supporting the Government’s wider ambition to build 1.5 million new homes.
