Sonia Shah has lived in Wembley Central all her life, and as a local representative has a deep understanding of how the area has evolved and the challenges faced. By day, she works as a Leadership Advisory Specialist at one of the top global executive search firms, alongisde studying for a Professional Doctorate in Occupational Psychology. She has been Councillor of Wembley Central since January 2020, and although the first Covid-19 lockdown was implemented just 2 months after her by-election, she has remained undeterred in supporting those most in need. She’s been in the trenches at a time when inequalities have been highlighted more than ever before, founding the Mutual Aid group that brought a sense of connection, partnership, and belonging to the local community that has been missing for a long time. Currently Chair of Wembley Connects, Sonia is also a Member of the Resources and Public Realm Scrutiny Committee. In her short tenure as a Councillor, she’s strengthened her relationships with the wider community and council officers; from businesses to faith groups, schools and food banks. She’ll work hard with all stakeholders – being an advocate for residents in their interaction with the council, and provide constructive challenge to council initiatives in the ward.
