Documents recently leaked to the Evening Standard show Tory Mayor of London Boris Johnson is planning to break his election promise and close ticket offices at all but 20 of London’s underground stations over the next 2 years.
The closures will make commuting more difficult, stations less safe and breaks a direct manifesto pledge made by the Mayor. Ticket offices at risk in Brent would include Wembley Central, Wembley Park, Preston Road, Queen's Park, Kensal Green, Kensal Rise, Harlesden, Willesden Junction, Willesden Green, Stonebridge Park, Kilburn High Road, Northwick Park, Neasden, Dollis Hill and more.
Sadiq Khan, Labour's Shadow Minister for London, said:
"These secret plans will have a devastating effect on the daily commute. Every Londoner has had to depend on manned ticket offices when the machines are out of order or their Oyster card has stopped working. Under the Mayor's plans you will now have nowhere to turn in these everyday situations."
Brent Labour oppose these plans and will be joining the Labour Party across London in campaigning against closures to local ticket offices.
